BrewAble’s mission is to provide meaningful employment and community connections for people with intellectual/ developmental disabilities (IDD) by creating opportunities to train, learn and excel as employees in a café setting. BrewAble was conceived in 2017 by a group of committed volunteers to address the challenge of vocational opportunities for people with disabilities in our community. The coffeehouse setting will open in spring 2019.

Position Summary
The BrewAble Café Manager has a strong interest in developing vocational capability and independence in people with intellectual/developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate is a passionate, efficient self-starter who will be responsible for leading all team members in the effective operation of BrewAble. He/she is responsible for managing the day-to-day café operations, maintaining high standards and conditions, and fostering a positive environment, which provides consistent, efficient, and friendly service ensuring a quality experience for both our customers and our team members. He/she will establish partnerships and strengthen existing relationships with community leaders and volunteers. The store manager creates the tone and personality of the store by being an advocate of disability inclusiveness, vocational training, customer service, and product knowledge, encouraging safe work practices, and a demonstrated commitment to our mission, vision, and values.
This is a full-time salaried management position with variable work hours.

Operations:
- Manage day-to-day operations of the café and execute sales and plans that are in-line with budgetary goals.
- Plan, execute and communicate all sales promotions and new product information effectively and efficiently.
- Identify staffing, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training needs of qualified candidates and current staff.
- Ensure proper team member coverage, scheduling according to the needs of BrewAble while maintaining target labor costs and considering individual employee needs
- Ensure and is accountable for profitability of the store by growing sales, increasing partnerships, coordinating with vendors, and controlling costs of goods, inventory levels, labor, supplies and expenses.
- Maintain the highest quality and consistent product standards
- Maintain and utilize daily, weekly, quarterly and annual financial reporting tools.
- Oversee all cash and media management functions. Able to perform all POS duties, front and back of house functions including opening and closing procedures, daily deposits and general banking needs
- Promote and practice safe work habits, identifying and resolving potential safety hazards, operational inconsistencies and any team member or customer incidents. Documents incidents, conducts initial investigation and determination of root cause in the interest of maintaining a safe and effective work environment.

- Nurture friendly relationships with customers, donors, and partners to increase loyalty and boost the reputation of BrewAble
Training and Development
- Is the role model for outstanding service and “owner” of service quality and team member development
- Provide ongoing training and development to all team members in the areas of operating standards, customer service and product knowledge
- Demonstrate the ability to lead, effectively communicate, and champion the mission, vision, and values of BrewAble to staff, volunteers, partners and donors
- Build morale and team spirit by fostering a work environment where team members are encouraged and valued
- Ensure each team member has received proper training to perform as a brewista or shift supervisor efficiently
- Continually develop team members, establishing specific performance objectives, and measuring team member performance regularly according to individual and also BrewAble needs
- Coach and counsel team members for improved performance, documenting developmental plans as necessary
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with individuals with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities (e.g., teacher, paraprofessional, therapist, caregiver, sibling)
- Knowledge of the objectives and methods in training of intellectually and/or developmentally disabled individuals
- Work experience in a restaurant or café or job coaching experience a plus
- Customer service attitude
- Proficient on a computer; familiar with software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
- Able to work overtime, including weekends, evenings and special events as needed.
- Well-organized, detail-oriented and able to multitask
- Must have effective problem solving/decision making abilities.
- Must have excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

Working Conditions
- Essential physical requirements, such as frequent bending and twisting from the waist, standing, stooping and climbing, frequent use of hands and arms, reaching and motioning with hands and arms, adjust vision to both day and night lighting, and be able to focus on distant and close range projects
- Regularly required to handle food, hot beverages and work with sharp objects
- Physical effort/lifting to 50 pounds
