Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together.
And great things are not accidental, but must certainly be willed.

CHALLENGE--According to the 2015 American Community Survey, the unemployment rate for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (IDD) in Georgia is nearly 70%. Once a young person turns 22, they no longer receive job support and training assistance through school; while some are able to find work with a flexible and supportive employer, many will not. Isolation, depression and regression after high school for those with IDD is a real and debilitating problem in our community.
COMMITMENT-- The idea to create a community coffeehouse to train and employ young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities took shape in spring, 2017 with an all-volunteer planning group comprised of members of the Alpharetta community. A partnership between Envision Alpharetta, a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to incubating grassroots community ideas, BrewAble and the City of Alpharetta, was formed in summer, 2018 to establish BrewAble in the lobby of the Alpharetta Community Center.
COLLABORATION-- In late summer 2019, Choate Construction was contracted to renovate the lobby of the community center into a cozy coffee bar. BrewAble Cafe celebrated its grand opening in September, 2019!
COOPERATION-- Since our grand opening, BrewAble Café has expanded its reach in the Alpharetta community through our popup coffee events and small catering events. Needless to say, the COVID-19 pandemic has created enormous challenges for BrewAble; we need the support of our community now more than ever! Your donations help pay for employees, products, supplies, equipment and insurance to operate our business until we are able to expand our service beyond carryout.
No amount is too large or too small. Every single dollar is a step towards the long term success of Alpharetta's first local small business whose sole mission is to employ people with IDD.
